Ok, so before you think I have an identity crisis, my real name is Myriam Fontaine. The first book I wrote was published under that name, but there is another Myriam Fontaine in Canada who also publishes books and so, when my book came out, the National Library listed my book as one of her work.

Because of that, I decided to change my name to Miriam Fontayne, but dislike the name. Finally, I went for the pen name "Alexis St-Clement". Some days I like it; others, I don't, but there is a limited amount of times you can change your name, I think. So, I should stick with this one.

La hantise du secret : poèmes écrits suite à un viol
(French only)

It is said that, worldwide, one in five women will be a victim of rape or attempted rape at least once in her life. Only in Quebec, 1 in 3 women have been sexually abused after the age of 16. The magnitude of this crime is just beginning to be recognized. These poems were written for a therapeutic purpose and also in the hope of helping other victims to put words on their feelings. It is time to encourage victims to break the silence.

Larmes d'espoir : Une enfance brisée
(French only)

"Mom looks at me from the top of her long legs and eternal jeans. She does not really see me. Do I exist? Is my existence only an illusion of mine? I believe not, since I think. It is only my mother who doubts of my existence. The only thing she knows exist was herself, her feelings. She sees through me. I am no longer her daughter. I am dust, barely larger than the dust bunnies under her bed. She sings. Once she saw her dreams crumbling down, she turned all of her focus on herself. She did not hear nor see anything else. Her ears and eyes lost their proper function. She thought it was better that way. Some sort of protective mechanism. If she saw the reality, she was going to go mad."
